Clinton withholds support for Edwards
(Loony Press Agency) Washington DC - Not answering a question not yet posed to her about whether or not to support rival candidate John Edwards, if she would not be the democratic nominee for president, Hillary Clinton not only gave her opponents a wide opening for criticism, but also did not rule out endorsing someone else.
She also did not rule out running as an independent or leaving the democratic party altogether. Not pressed to explain her non answer, she even left open the possibility to become a private citizen again and start a career as a professional triangulator.
In a move certain to enflame liberal primary voters, she gave no hint, that she would categorically not be a candidate to lead the Washington DC lobbyist chamber.
"Silence can be louder than words", prominent democratic activist Holden Caulfield was quick to criticize. "While she usually gives four different answers to one question, she now chose to give not a single one to this question, even though she clearly had to anticipate that someone was about to ask her just that". Others were less diplomatic. "Its an abommination. No democrat should refrain from cheerleading for our dear leaders", said another source, which preferred to stay anonymous but is known in blogger circles under the name George P. "My outrage knows no bounds. This traitorous non talk has to stop!"
Insiders point to historical parallels in 2003, when the democratic establishment only showed lackluster support for then frontrunner Howard Dean. For blogger king Todd Wheaton this screw up clearly marks the end of Clintons quest for the presidency. If she cant find the right words now, how could she ever find the right words in a general election campaign?" If for instance her republican opponent would ask her in a debate, whether she would support him, if he were elected president, a candidate Clinton could make the fatal mistake to ignore the question and talk about non issues like universal healthcare and the Iraq war.
Totally unbiased and till now undecided primary voters like Lori X. and C. Bookgirl have had enough already. "One more screw up and I wont consider voting for her anymore". Asked whether they would still at least vote for her in the general election, the Loony Press Reporter on site was only able to gather an x-rated comment that went somewhat like "F_k that bi_h" and wasnt totally clear as to their voting intentions.
Republicans piled on the non incident, by not talking about the issues again. "We need leaders who are not afraid to endorse other leaders, like Iraqi prime minister Maliki. Only by endorsing the right kind of people do you show true character. Senator Clinton has clearly failed that test", Pat Robertson, a moderate bible thrower from the Grand Fringe Party, said in a press release.
