Most people who are democrats were shocked that Barack Obama and John Edwards were booed by the Hillary Clinton supporters in attendance at the democratic debate yesterday in Las Vegas.
CNN could not have done a worse job of producing last nights debate!
From beginning to end, it was nothing short of a disaster! The introduction was weird to say the least, not admonishing the crowd for heckling and interrupting the debate, poor framing of the questions, and reframing the questions asked by the undecided members of the audience, having two Hillary Clinton supporters and a republican as pundits on the post-debate show! I could go on and on, but I digressed and I want to get to the point of my diary!
I have noticed some of Hillary supporters saying no one was upset at MSNBC when Hillary was booed at the August 7th AFL-CIO debate.
Since my first diary at Daily Kos was about Hillary being booed at the AFL-CIO debate, I thought I would diary what I see as the clear difference between the boo birds at the AFL-CIO and the Las Vegas debate.
First, here is Hillary getting booed at the AFL-CIO debate in Chicago.
"You can think big. But remember, you shouldn't always say everything you think if you're running for president, because it could have consequences across the world and we don't need that right now."
I think it is quite clear that Hillary was not booed by partisan supporters in the audience. She was booed because she was being herself, she wants to be president but doesn't want to tell the American voters everything she's thinking because she worries about how that would impact how the world sees her.
Here's a link to a CNN story that includes Obama and Edwards getting booed by partisan Hillary supporters:

In the spirit of debating, Obama and Edwards were trying to draw distinctions between themselves and Hillary. But, because the auditorium was overwhelmingly (I wonder how that happened) full of Hillary supporters, Obama and Edwards were booed because her supporters did not want Hillary to experience a repeat of what happened in the Philadelphia debate!
I want to end on two additional points:
- Wolf Blitzer never once instructed the audience to remain quiet so the candidates could be heard. And, there were clear signs that the crowd had every intention of being rowdy and pro Hillary, when Barack was interrupted multiple times during his opening answer.
- This debate was one of six sanctioned by the DNC, and for them to allow Hillary to fill the audience with her supporters does not look good. Maybe they were mad at Edwards and Obama for ruining the planned debate between the Nevada DNC and Fox News!
