I know this is a past issue, but I JUST GOT the response from my Congressman! I sent John Mica of FL an email over a month ago to let him know how displeased I was with Rush's comments.
Apparently, Mica is a ditto-head because he is feeding me the exact same line that Rush fed his idiots--that he was talking about one soldier, Jesse MacBeth.
First, here is the response from my Congressman:
Thank you for contacting me concerning comments made by Rush Limbaugh. It was good to hear from you and I am pleased to have this opportunity to respond.
Like you, I strongly support a citizen’s right to free speech and Rush Limbaugh was certainly entitled to express his opinions regarding individuals that make false statements regarding their military service. Under the Constitution, elected officials have a duty to uphold the First Amendment. It is my hope that Senators, such as Harrry Reid, concerned with Rush Limbaugh’s statements instead redirect their energies to the improvement of our society and the formation of more effective policy at home and abroad.
Thank you for taking the time to share your thoughts with me and please know that I greatly value your opinions. Feel free to contact me about this or any other issue of interest to you in the future.
With my regards and best wishes, I remain
Sincerely,
John L. Mica
Member of Congress
Okay, here is the actual transcript, AGAIN:
LIMBAUGH: There's a lot more than that that they don't understand. They can't even -- if -- the next guy that calls here, I'm gonna ask him: Why should we pull -- what is the imperative for pulling out? What's in it for the United States to pull out? They can't -- I don't think they have an answer for that other than, "Well, we just gotta bring the troops home."
CALLER 2: Yeah, and, you know what --
LIMBAUGH: "Save the -- keep the troops safe" or whatever. I -- it's not possible, intellectually, to follow these people.
CALLER 2: No, it's not, and what's really funny is, they never talk to real soldiers. They like to pull these soldiers that come up out of the blue and talk to the media.
LIMBAUGH: The phony soldiers.
CALLER 2: The phony soldiers. If you talk to a real soldier, they are proud to serve. They want to be over in Iraq. They understand their sacrifice, and they're willing to sacrifice for their country.
LIMBAUGH: They joined to be in Iraq. They joined --
Calling Mica an idiot is too nice, because even an idiot can figure out he was talking about soldiers who disagreed with the war, which is the majority (by the way). It was offensive to me, as a veteran.
I am ticked at Harry Reid because a day after the GOP blocked a troop rest amendment, weak-ass Harry allowed a vote condemning MoveOn.org. I'm certain Mica didn't talk about noble concepts like defending Free Speech when MoveON.org said "Gen. BetrayUs". (It's OKAY to smear the majority of soldiers, just not one chickenhawk general).
If you think Mica is an idiot too, let him know: http://micaforcongress.com/...
