First, a little Barack Obama:
For all of you hoping Obama-mania would die down after he was sworn in, it hasn't and it's going to get worse for you:
Lorelei Lorenzen of Lockport, who also lives in Florida and usually votes Republican, held her hand up to Obama's as he made his way through the crowd. She wanted to see how big his hands were compared to hers.
"He could be our next president," she said. "He's authentic."
The Governor's race is hot, hot, hot...
Blago has been a major league screwup this week, as he got in a knock-down drag-out with his father in law. Ralph sent him a warm blanket for the couch.
Liberal bloggers like Eric Zorn are piling on, with pithy quotes like this one:
"Blagojevich reminds me of the neighbor who calls the police instead of talking to you and seeking a quick, amicable resolution when he sees your dog off its leash or thinks your stereo is too loud."
And now, he's facing some stiff opposition. Ray LaHood (R-Peoria) is considering a run at Governor. LaHood, a five-term congressman, is a friend of Governor Blagojevich, but said that as Illinois' Chief Executive, Blagojevich's style is too contentious--in most cases this would be hyperbole but in Blago's it is an understatement. I think it's pretty serious. If the Republicans could clear the decks, it might make a very interesting race. It is really serious. Check out the So-Called Austin Mayor's Blog for a link to the details on LaHood's record and remember that in Illinois, he's considered a moderate.
