The basic idea is to influence the election of some targeted candidates such as Donna Edwards who is receiving a lot of attention on Kos.
I am neither an experienced writer nor a prolific poster so please bear with me.
We have shown a fantastic ability to raise cash when the purpose is valid. sensible, and appears in the range of doable. We in our hundreds of thousands have a free labor source which is worth many thousands times more than the cash we can raise. I think by combining the two we can achieve that overworked word, synergistic.
My proposal rests on the hypothesis that most democrats are so overworked trying to hammer out a living in this f$#@ed up bush(I refuse to cap the word bush on the grounds of undeserving) economy that they go to the polls uninformed or even worse ill informed. They do not have the energy to research the net to evaluate the candidates. In addition since the democratic party is the party of the poor, many do not have computers in the home (probably had one but it is in hock).
I propose that we take up a collection, ask for a volunteer or volunteers to make a video or videos such as the Donna Edwards campaign speech video which is on Kos today. We then press as many CD's as we can afford and supply them to the various campaigns for distribution.
Of course each campaign can figure out the best way to distribute the CD's but it would seem the best way would be to place them in the poorer neighborhoods and make available for pickup at various public places. Those without a computer more than likely have access at work, the library or a friends house.
I am surely just making up numbers but suppose we can produce finished CD's at 50 cent each or $500 per thousand. Further assume that we can raise $50,000 which would convert to 100,000 CD's. Divided among 10 candidates and assuming that for each 10 CD's we produce one vote and double counting we convert one voter for every 20 CD's so that each convert counts as two votes since we add one to our candidate and subtract one from the opposition. Mashing all this together gives(calculator, please don't fail me now. Adverse comments make me cry.) 2,000 differential votes for our candidate. This should be enough red meat for the commentors so I am quitting.
