Last night, around 10 pm PT, I decided to check and see what the MSM was reporting on the Giuliani scandal. I abhor CNN already, but thought if any site would be a fairly typical indicator of the corporate media's bias, it would be they.
There wasn't a thing about it on their front page. Not one. I decided to go over to MSNBC.com, home of Olberman, the only person telling the truth in the MSM these days, and it was the same deal. Nothing.
So today, is it any different?
Here's a sampling of the main stories from CNN as of this moment, 9:20 a.m. PT:
Main story: That guy who may have killed his wives (didn't we already have a story about some guy named Peterson who was a wife-killer?)
Other sample headlines: There may have been a baby that was killed in the Turkish airline disaster.
Mom stabs, kills children in store.
Wayne Newton: Johnny Carson was mean. (THIS IS A TOP STORY???)
Highest paid actress
Woman's smoothie zapped with abortion pill.
Getting the picture yet? THIS IS WHAT WE'RE BEING FED AS NEWS. By CNN, "the most trusted name in news".
This is National Enquirer, US Magazine BULLSHIT.
Oh, if you look further down, you finally see a story about Giuliani's scandal. What does it say, and what is the point of view?
Well it's all ha-ha, it seems to be taking Giuliani at his word that this story is nothing but a "hit piece" suspiciously timed to come out right before the debate, and obviously those nasty Dems must be behind it. Ha Ha. Just politics! Nothing to see here, folks! It's from the Democrats, so you can't believe a word of it! 9/11, 9/11.
"I thought the way the story was presented was like a hit job," Giuliani said after the CNN/YouTube debate Wednesday night.
"Coming two hours before this debate, I kind of got the idea that it was not a legitimate story."
"I would not accuse any of my opponents of doing it," he said. "But who knows, it could be on the Democratic side."
Oh, and the story about the scandal wasn't really anything, it just "raised questions". Just raised a few questions. Nothing more.
And here's the really infuriating part:
Nowhere, do they mention the gist of the scandal itself. Nowhere do they mention, or even link to the main story, the fact that Rudy billed police protection and transport for his mistress, while he was still married, to the City of New York, so he could get away on his little booty calls and have the City pay for it!
Nowhere in the article does it mention this. It paints it like this:
WASHINGTON (CNN) -- Republican presidential hopeful Rudy Giuliani has called a story raising questions about the accounting of his security expenses while he was mayor of New York a "hit job."
"Questions about the accounting of his security expenses."
That's it.
Can there be any more doubt about CNN's bias?
The only link in the news story is this one. If you want to click on it, grab a barf bag first.
Now let's check my hometown paper, the LA Times:
Nothing on the front page of Latimes.com. The only story about politics is "Huckabee's Looking Good in Iowa". NOTHING about the GOP front-runner's campaign being absolutely destroyed by a scandal of sex and corruption.
What else should I check. How about the Washington Post?
Nothing there at washingtonpost.com. Oh wait, this jumps out at me:
Stem Cell Vindication
Charles Krauthammer
The embryonic stem cell debate is over. George Bush won.
Well that's nice to know. Thanks for the info, Krauthammer, you objective reporter, you.
New York Times?
Ah, yes, finally. Front page stories about Giuliani's mess. BUT THAT PAPER IS HIS HOMETOWN and its readership is the city in which he was the mayor! Of COURSE they'll report on this.
But the rest of them? Nope. Nothing to see here, folks, move along, there are dead babies and wife-killers and celebrities to discuss!
The most telling headline on CNN's entire front page? It's this one:
"Why celebrity stuff is special"
I am not making this up.
