DISLAIMER: This was a comment that I wrote in several diaries that some people who noticed it seemed to like. I realize this isn't quite a full diary, or fully thought out or linked or whatever. I'm sorry if that bothers you. I just thought this might be of interest to some of the other people around here. Just some of my thoughts on Barack Obama and recent issues he's faced:
(Below the fold)
Barack is not going to be the debate winner by old standards of debate winners. He's not going to get the most "hits" in or have the best one liners. His style is more suited for speaches and themes than 2 minute snipes or capitulations. Interestingly, the former are usually skills most necessary to a President whereas the latter is much more useful for a Senator or congressman...
And one more thing, some people on the left aren't going to always like his big tent, like we saw with Donnie McClurkin. A movement for change is not built on the backs of the pure, but on the backs of the flawed. And we're all flawed. But if we unite and can get behind someone like Barack, who won't throw you away because you're flawed, he'll just prod you to improve yourself, maybe, just maybe, we can change the world.
Think about that. Actually making the world a better place. A place where we can say we left the world better than we started. Where we can say it all started with a black guy with a funny name who just wasn't going to play the game anymore.
