On Tuesday, the seventh day of Hannuka and the second day of the fast before the Moslem holiday of El Adha, Israeli police accompanied bulldozers in a horrific day of demolitions in the unrecognized Bedouin Villages in the Negev. 27 homes were demolished – 27 families were left homeless, with broken dreams, anger and pain towards the government that does not allow them to live in dignity.
Nadia Abu Hadobeh from the village of Abu-Tlul is 60 years old. She has lost most of her hearing, and is considered 100% disabled by the Israeli government because of breathing hardships. Because of lack of oxygen she faints on a daily basis, and needs constant care and at times hospitalization. She finds it hard to live in her grown sons’ homes, so she took a loan from the bank – half of her governmental allowance – $200 a month – she pays for this loan – to build herself a place to live by her sons. She moved into her new modest home several months ago. Now she is without a roof, and without the ability to live the remainder of her life in dignity. (see photo above)
Monir Abu Sulb built a home for his new wife to be – they were to be married within the month – but now their dreams will have to be postponed – as there is not home to move into. The home of Auda Abu-Sulb at the other side of the village was demolished too. Now he and his wife and 10 children are homeless. (see photo below)
The village of Twail Abu-Jarwal was demolished to the ground once again – over 20 very modest tin homes and tents destroyed by the bulldozers – and still the government has no solutions to their need for a home – only demolitions. (see photo below)
The government of Israel also demolished the following homes yesterday:
Muhamad Abu Asa’s home in the village of Bir El-Hamam.
Abu Quran family home in the village of A-Sireh.
El Amur family home in the village of Tel Arad
A-Siraya family home in the village of Al-Bat.
Please write to your representatives! Request that they make Israel accountable for its terrible treatment of its own citizens. Write to the Israeli ministers in charge of these atrocities. Write to the Israeli embassy closest to you and demand explanations.
