Survivor is one of the most popular shows. Tonight was the finale. It showcased who could outlast and outwit but it also showed how arbitrary and capricious employers could be with their employees. Such is the case of Denise, the lunch lady.
Follow the story after the break:
Denise was an unlikely candidate from the start. Amazingly enough she made it to the final four, only to finish out of the money. Towards the end Denise pled her case to the other 3 younger remaining players by contrasting her life to theirs. For Denise, this was her shot. All that awaited her back in Douglas Massachusetts was a return to a low level $7.00 an hour lunch lady job. It didn’t work; she went home.
Imagine her surprise when even the lunch lady job faded. The school said being well known created a distraction - to the 3rd graders. She was moved to a night janitor job and now doesn't even see her family that much. On the air she asked if anyone could use a lunch lady? She had to fight back the tears.
So, while we call the various offices tomorrow to rally support for Chris Dodd, why not aim a few levels lower and call the school district in Douglas Mass as well. Show a little love and a little support. I found the following contacts:
Elementary school, Douglas Mass - 508-476-2154
