Ladies and Gentlemen, I think we have a problem.
Take a trip on the recent polls and what you'll find is that our presumptive nominee is tettering on the brink of getting beat by that merry band of dwarves that the Republicans call "nominees".
What the h*** are we thinking????
And is there anything we can do about it????
Okay, now I am an admitted Hillary-hater. I just had to spend two more days working with her people in my area and I came away feeling more and more like they really are all Children of Satan.
Not that that is a bad thing, mind you, if you have the proper religious affiliation...but these folks are really just awful people.
Frankly, I am becoming more and more convinced that if Mrs Clinton is our nominee, I may not vote. I just feel like rewarding these people is only reinforcing their "win at all costs" behavior. And that is not something that I believe Progressives should support. The amount of crap I had to listen to about Barack and John is AMAZING to me. They never say much positive about HER, just tear down the other guys. Awful!
Oh, and I'll be open here...I think I've decided to support Barack. I still love John Edwards, and I think his wife is awesome, and that both of them would make an fantastic pair in the White House.
But I feel Barack has a fire and a spirit that can win this thing. And while I think John could win too, I really don't think there is any way that his machine can survive a full frontal assault from Hillary's goon-squaders.
SO...what is the point of this diary???
Well, poke on over to REALCLEARPOLITICS and check out the head to head trends. Hillary is getting her butt kicked by this lame bunch of Repugs. She has a margin-of-error lead over Romney, Guiliani and (shudder) Huckabee. And she loses straight up to McCain.
If her polls this early are this bad, then she may very well be toast in the general. Just look at the history. Dems ALWAYS lead by a fair amount early, then they fade (Bill being the exception) once the attacks begin. Hillary will start out almost behind and I really think there is only one direction for her to go.
Honestly, doesn't this bode VERY ill for the general? What in God's name is she going to tell the broader voting public after she gets the nomination? What can she do in order to bring them over to her side? I think it's a little past time for her to go all warm and fuzzy.
Nope. I think the winds say that our presumptive nominee is in a world of hurt!
HOWEVER, also take a look at Barack's numbers...
Now, I know, I have just said I am supporting him, so this is all suspect. I concur. But draw your own conclusions from the numbers. Hill is within the margin of error overall head-to-head. Barack is ahead by 10% or more.
Tell me, which candidate would YOU chose?????
I just have this increasingly sinking feeling that we are going to nominate a candidate (Hillary) who cannot win.
And that, my friends, could prove to be a disaster for Progressives, our children, and our children's children.
Somehow, someway, we have to chose the candidate who seems to be able to beat the Repugs. And I have become convinced that Hillary cannot get it done (okay, I probably ALWAYS thought that, but now there is actual data to support that position!).
Anyway, just sharing a thought or two. Oh, and for those of you going "where's the link?" If you are too lazy to google "realclearpolitics" and then go to their head-to-head polling, you probably shouldn't be voting in the first place!
Thanks for listening...I feel better now!
