Now that we've heard from Naomi Wolf and George Clooney, er I mean Robert Baer on the topic, I ask the DailyKos community: Are we over the self-destructive aversion to recognizing actual conspiracies that have indeed begun to devastate our system of govt. yet?
I imagine Jose Padilla wishes you would have started assuming the worst about this crowd years ago. Same goes for Don Siegelman. Theoretically: It's not too late to remove our blinders and save your family from still more war profiteering Corporatist "leadership".
This is a matter of getting Progressive Democrats elected, so I ask that you please don't be self-destructive and censor my attempt to share my sincere concern for our actual Foreign Policy and how it applies to our choice this Primary / Caucus season.
(I'm certainly not doing this to be popular. I know I risk being banned, but it's too important not to try to extend yet another branch to well-meaning people here at my favorite website. In my inner hopeful place I'm pretty sure that most everyone knows this stuff, but are just averse to seeming nutty. The polls and increasing piles of news all add up to quite an obtrusive heap of evidence that what is nutty is believing anything they tell us to believe. Right?
If you must call me a kook... at least I'd be in good company. That's what the MSM did with Senator and Presidential candidate Bob Graham (D) FL. Remember? The media outed him for keeping notes!?! In a little notebook ! What a weirdo! ........right?
If you're determined to continue to play catch-up to Rovian "reality creation" DON'T READ this 2004 New York Times article. The Times even had the gall to print the most supremely punishable phrase "Cover-Up" in their headline!
Senator Accuses Bush of Cover-Up

WASHINGTON, Sept. 7 (AP) - Senator Bob Graham, the Florida Democrat who is a former chairman of the Senate Intelligence Committee, accused the White House on Tuesday of covering up evidence that might have linked Saudi Arabia to the Sept. 11 hijackers.

The focus of the torture tapes story should not be limited to the human rights crimes they represent, but also, and quite urgently so: the fact that the govt. case is faulty all around. It's time now for all of you who've resisted thinking these people are capable of anything at all, to arise and sniff our govts. long documented and slowly declassified history of using fear/shock. Mainstream journalists understand that confessions extracted using torture are not credible. We've even heard quite a good case for how U.S. citizen Jose Padilla was arrested thanks to being turned in by a guy who was being drowned. And for that Padilla was tortured and rendered a shambles?
NOTE: In his case the govt. argued that being guilty of "criminal conspiracy" require only that the group agree that they WANT something to happen.
PNAC's salivation over a "...new Pearl Harbor" fits that bill. Have you heard of that?
What is it about these people and their shoot-ya-in-the-face-and-lie-about-it record you don't understand? They're out to get us. If you're still thinking that doesn't rise to the scale required: you have GOT to read this doozy of a plan. I guarantee: It will sound VERY familiar. It might surprise you that they even HAD remote control jetliners back then! The electoral equivalent of an attack on an even larger scale was certainly leveled upon the land in 2000 and 2004. You might ask Governor Don Siegelman of Alabama whether these guys are capable of the unthinkable.
Tom Ridge admitted to being used, asked to trumpet threats for political purposes. Isn't that enough literal "terrorism" to qualify a regime?
---- re: Election
Today John Edwards tells us that our #1 enemy is Al Qaeda.
I prefer a few months ago when he at least exhibited the courage to say that the "war on terror" is a bumpersticker. He doesn't seem to have faith that we even want to know how bad these psychopaths are.
Now that the Progressive leader in Pakistan has been killed, the Operation Mockingbird types are suddenly telling us that it's good for McCain and Hillary? What experience are they bragging about? Getting us into this mess? No thanks, gullible warhawks!
The enemy is those who would purposefully lie and/or steal, and/or kill to get what they want regardless of what the "goddamn piece of paper" says. At least one candidate: Dennis J. Kucinich has (too timidly) rejected some aspects of the official story, and supports a new deeper investigation.
And similarly, a hint of light shone through when Barack Obama brilliantly, but perhaps too subtly, called the Administration's bluff stating that he'd invade if we knew the perpetrators of 9/11 were in Pakistan, and the administration there was not earnestly helping in the effort (duh).
I hope you can muster the will to do the right thing, not the supposedly popular thing.
Goodbye friends! and GOOD LUCK!
