Since the beginning I liked Huckabee; however, I never thought he had a chance.
Of course, now that he has a chance and now that we have heard him I hope he is not our candidate (please see profile if you're confused about this diary).
That said, it is looking better and better for Democrats as the Republican candidates continue to look weaker.
I am a Christian. I am a conservative. Huckabee wears his religion on his sleeve. He uses his beliefs to gain popularity within the electorate.
Dammit, that pisses me off.
It is one thing to believe in God and it is another thing to use God to get elected. I find it insulting. I find that such a strategy screams that Huckabee thinks conservative voters are stupid. He thinks that if he says 'Jesus', 'Bible', 'Reagan', 'Singleminded' that he'll gain supporters. Here's my question for the Huckster:
What's it like to be wrong?
His stance on woman is insulting as plenty of my Christian friends whom are female live complimentarian lifestyles.
He bashed Bush. That was stupid because the people Huck wants to vote for him voted for Bush twice. We don't believe we're stupid (although I am positive many reading this disagree ;)).
So, where does that leave conservatives?
Well, personally, I think Thompson is our best bet to win; however, his campaign seems weak. That said, I thought Huckabee's campaign seemed weak as well and he came to the top.
If Thompson doesn't rise to the occasion our best bet is Romney. His chances of winning against the current set of Democratic candidates are slim.
Romney's best chance to win would be against Edwards who I have always thought is the most 'beatable' Democratic candidate.
So, there's your update from Daily Kos's token conservative.
Why?
Because you did ask and you do care. ;)
