In a move that has party leaders and pundits alike puzzled Presidential hopeful Mike Huckabee has prematurely announced his choice of a VP running mate.
Huckabee Chooses Jesus as Running Mate
Move to Shore Up Evangelical BaseIn a bold move that could dramatically alter the playing field of the 2008 G.O.P. presidential race, former Arkansas Governor Mike Huckabee today named Jesus Christ as his vice-presidential running mate.
Governor Huckabee has made an increasing number of comments about his relationship with Jesus in recent debates, but few Republican insiders expected him to announce that he was anointing Christ as his vice-presidential pick.
"This could be huge for Huckabee," said Stenson Partridge, a veteran G.O.P. consultant. "Among Republican voters, Jesus Christ is even more popular than Ronald Reagan."
Although Jesus has very high name recognition among the party rank and file they seem entirely unaware of his stance on the issues. Many among the Washington elite are even questioning his eligibility for high office in the US. The fact that of his birth, supposedly in Bethlehem would seem to exclude him. Pundits also point out that all this "Healing the sick" won't play well with the insurance industry and "loving thy neighbor" won't appeal to republican leadership unless it's done surreptitiously. One Fox News spokesman, who wishes to remain anonymous asked, "Isn't this guy really a Democrat?"http://www.borowitzreport.com/...
