I want to acknowledge the passing of two heroic Planned Parenthood workers who lost their lives helping women in extremely desperate situations.
This is just a short diary but I felt compelled to acknowledge this tragic 13th anniversay of the day that two heroic Planned Parenthood clinic receptionists-Shannon Lowney and Lee Ann Nichols (& unnamed others who did not necessarily die but who were wounded) lost their lives dedicating their lives to serving women with whatever healthcare needs they had, including the need for safe, legal abortions.
These women were gunned down in cold blood by an anti-abortion fanatic, John Salvi, who stormed into the Planned Parenthood clinic in Boston, Mass. on December 30th, 1994 and went on a shooting rampage. Numerous other people were shot as well, but thankfully survived.
I just wanted to salute these compassionate, brave, heroic women as well as all other dedicated, compassionate clinic workers who have also been killed, wounded or continue to put their safety on the line daily to protect the health and lives of women.
My thoughts and prayers also go out to the families & loved ones of Shanno Lowney, Lee Ann Nicols and all other families & loved ones of those who have lost their lives serving the healthcare needs of women in the face of such danger.
