We are so f**king pathetic. Every new revelation from the bowels of the Bush Administration stirs us to outrage and we scream and pound on the table, and...then sit back to wait for the next horrendous revelation. The decider-in-Chief has decided that he gets to decide what he can decide and no one can decide to tell him he can't decide. Is that about right?
The CIA can videotape illegal activities being committed by the CIA and then tell the administration that they are going to destroy the evidence. The obstructionist-in-chief has fallen prey to Gonzalez Syndrome and "can't recall" being told that. So now, word leaks out that they have, in fact, destroyed the aforementioned evidence of their own crimes, and once again the Democratic leadership is howling, yowling and growling about legal action. Bulls**t! There won't be any legal action. There is no legality left.
Follow me here, people. When they confirmed Alito and Roberts, they gave the Moron-in-Chief the majority he needed on the Court to take over the nation. HELLO! When they confirmed Mukasey as the cure for amnesia in the Justice Department, they guaranteed that there would be no impediment to one-man rule in this country. WAKE UP!
And we, the bloggers, the trod-upon citizens, have become so effing civilized that we express our disgust and outrage in words and DO NOTHING! In France, a general strike can grind commerce, government, entertainment and virtually everything else to a near-halt. Why not here? Why not a few million people on the streets of five or six well-chosen cities to stop EVERYTHING for eight to twenty-four hours, make a real statement, show that we have some power. To the effing barricades!
Why not an ecomomic boycott of EVERYTHING!? Stock up on necessities for a couple of weeks and then, on a predetermined date, stop spending money. PERIOD! No food sales. No clothing sales, no cars, condoms, Viagra, movie tickets, NOTHING, for a couple of days. Tell the bastards we are still here, dammit!
Am I being irrational? Yes, probably. Hell,I am angry! Really angry. Cooler heads will probably prevail, as they have for so long. SWELL! Same old, same old. But, read what I'm saying and think about it. Where the hell are Jefferson, Adams, and Franklin when we need them? I'm no Thomas Paine, but pay attention anyway.
