I've met Ed Fallon. There are a lot of areas that I don't agree with him. But I think he's in sync with a lot of the thinking here on dKos. So, while it doesn't particularly advance my own point-of-view, I'm re-producing below his yearend update. I think this guy is deserving of your support.
Oh, one other thing. His official campaign website is www.fallonforgovernor.org

FALLON FOR GOVERNOR YEAR-END UPDATE
Dear Friends,
Due to a back injury in early December, I had to postpone my official announcement until spring. The good news is I don't need surgery. With rest and physiotherapy I should have no trouble resuming an ambitious campaign schedule soon.
Sometimes, an injury or illness helps us slow down and regroup. During the past month, I've read four books that have long sat on my shelf. I've spent a lot of time with my family. I've been able to visit leisurely with friends that have stopped by. I've had more time to meditate and pray, and I've had ample hours to think deeply about my purpose in life. The time alone with my thoughts has only confirmed my passion to fight for a just and fair society.
There is so much injustice in the world, and regrettably no shortage of it in Iowa. Whether due to greed, bureaucratic ineptness, sloth or outright stupidity, injustice runs rampant. Men and women of conscience must oppose it wherever the health and well being of people and our land are threatened.
I have a burning desire to right the wrongs of this world. While there's certainly a limit to how much any one person can accomplish, I know that as governor I could do a lot of good for Iowa. I could do much to build a more just and equitable society. I would give hope and encouragement to the many Iowans who presently feel their government doesn't listen or care. I would involve people in the process in ways that would truly make a difference in their lives.
From the bottom of my heart, I want to thank all who have helped me with their support, prayers and encouragement. To those who have generously donated time, money and supplies, please know that this campaign would not be possible without you.
If you're inclined, now would be a great time to jump on board. As our grassroots network continues to grow across Iowa, we need more and more help all the time. If you've got skills to share or money to donate; if you've got ideas, initiatives or insights to offer; if you've got office furniture or supplies to contribute (see below) . . . call, write, e-mail or stop by.
Let's show the cynics, party hacks and big-money types that a progressive, citizen-based, grassroots campaign can win in America's heartland.
Sincerely,
Ed Fallon

P.S. Thanks to all who responded to our two most recent wish lists. As we prepare to move into a new office - which will also serve as housing for Jan and perhaps one other campaign volunteer - we find ourselves in need of a bunch of items not commonly associated with a political campaign.
If you can donate any of the following, THANK YOU!
Two computers: one "regular," one laptop
Two beds or futons
Two chests of drawers
Two to three area rugs
Three to five throw rugs
Two sets of linens
Four pillows
Two bookcases
And . . . an exercise bike for me to use while I get my back up to snuff, or until the snow melts, whichever comes first!
