Just finished watching the Obama segment on 60 Minutes and wanted to see what Kosville thought about it. I have been restraining myself from getting swept up in the Obamarama hype, even though I am admittedly pretty excited to watch his campaign.
The interview, IMO, was perfectly handled by Obama. A small example...Taped yesterday prior to his announcement, Steve Kroft brought up the fact that he was until very recently a smoker, which was handled brilliantly by his wife.

Essentially, Obama just sort of sat there looking sheepish while his wife basically directed America to give her a call if we catch him sneaking a smoke, she hated the habit so much. She had the sort of mock righteous indignation that is typical of how women sometimes talk about their husbands (Can you BELIEVE he still smokes?? He knows I hate it!) It was a humanizing moment, to be sure.
His answer to the question of whether he was too green to be president was also confidently and simply answered. Overall I was pretty impressed.
from the segment:
He has challenged the post baby boom generation to cast aside its cynicism of politics and engage the system. In a speech at George Mason University earlier this month, he evoked Martin Luther King.
"The arc of the moral universe is long, but it bends towards justice. It bends towards justice," he told the students. "But here’s the thing, young people, it doesn't bend on its own. It bends in that direction because you decide you're gonna stand up to a war that should have never been waged. It bends because you decide that we need a healthcare system for all Americans."
I think this is true about the post baby boom cynicism, and the challenge we have to cut through it. I think he can bring the kids to the polls, and by 'kids' I mean under 40. He doesnt seem to reek of bullshit quite as much as some other pols.
Sorry this is so short...anyone else see it?
