Shortly after President Kennedy was killed, a list of coincidences between him and President Lincoln began circulating, and has been since. Things like: both were shot on a Friday; both were shot in the head; both were assassinated by Southerners; both were succeeded by Southerners named Johnson.
Silly? Meaningless? Sure.
But just for grins, here's one for our current president:
He was barely a C student in school.
He failed in a series of business efforts, including some he got into thanks entirely to family influence.
He had a drinking problem.
His inauguration ushered in an era of graft, corruption and nepotism in the federal government.
He gave high positions to unqualified people who had done him favors or given him money.
The influence of financial opportunists over him brought about disastrous economic results.
Totally out of his element, he was a failure in the White House.
He trusted the wrong people.
He made bad decisions.
Because of his failures as president, our nation lost a valuable opportunity to rebuild after unspeakable tragedy, and the void was abused for profit by unscrupulous carpetbaggers.
Sound familiar?
Everything here describes President George W. Bush.
Everything here also describes President Ulysses S. Grant.
Don’t look for any meaning. There isn’t one. Just one of those things that make you go hmmmm.....
