In todays LA Times editorial "Scott Collins" an LA time contributor is puzzled to find out that "Tim Russert" lacks courage and is actually part of the establishment and not its careful and objective surveyor whose job it is to dig for the truth and keep the powerful on their heels, Scott opens his column as follows:
" THOSE of us who get a kick out of watching Tim Russert every Sunday on NBC's "Meet the Press" are feeling a little hangdog these days. We always thought Big Russ Jr. was tough on the powerful. Now we learn that to some Washington media types on both the right and the left, he's just a tool for the powerful."
Well if you had really been watching Tim Russert every Sunday you should have known that he is not all that!!! I remember one sitting with Karl Rove were Karl in an obvious pandering to his base made a reference to the biblical 6000 year history of man kind to build his argument and Tim Russert let this fly without challenging him on the point, I had heard enough!
Just as a pointer if you build an argument on a false premise your argument is worthless even if the next five points you make sense! I am always reminded of what Bikram the Yoga teacher says in his diaologues to his students, "If you try something the right way you will get there today or tomorrow, if you try the wrong way you will never get there in a million years".
Any follow up question by Mr. Russert to Mr Rove would have been dishonest and a posturing to advance Mr. Roves point and not dig for truth.
