I have been reading several different sites regarding this issue of "moral values" and religion, etc... A scary theme seems to be present. This belief that we are headed for Armageddon, the "Rapture" of the Church, this Left Behind Series indoctrination.
Taking a pulled quote from a post on msnbc, this individuals states the following: "If the much maligned Bible is true, then Armageddon is only a matter of time. If we are all wrong, well, everyone dies and then you can do what ever you like. Of course, if we are right... you are in some deep fertilizer, for a very long, long time... you can't have it both ways."

This is what we are dealing with here. If you want to know the mentality of the religious right, read the first book or two of the Left Behind Series....The problem is that they are believeing and seeing some of the fictional events as factual, therefore having this obsession that Armageddon is about to take place.
About five years ago, I attended a meeting of the Fellowship of Christian Athletes, where all they discussed was this very topic. Its scary..I never went to another meeting, I was waiting for the snake and oil..
I'm a Catholic, who voted for Kerry, and I am deeply concerned that we have a zelous sect in our society that has become obsessed with these fictional stories in almost a David Koresh following.
For whatever reason GWB has become this part of the nations Koresh and is leading his flock to their "Salvation..."
As thinkers and intellectuals, we need to not accept their view, but to have a better understanding to point out that stuff like the Left Behind series is fiction, not fact, and that the religious right doesn't own values..."Give to God, which is God's, give to Ceaser what is Ceaser's..."
