Do you think the recent Pentagon 'proof' of Iranian involvement in Iraq stinks? Do you smell bullshit?
Do you think that ordinary shells and mortar rounds stencilled in English, with a March 2006 date (in English) don't add up to proof of Iran's supplying weapons to 'insurgents' in Iraq (never mind the whole question of which insurgents Iran is supplying)?
So, yesterday I posted a poor excuse for a diary titled: How do you say "March 2006" in Farsi?
Then something interesting happened.... (below)
Someone posted this comment:
As a matter of fact, they use English (0+ / 0-)
Hereis a photo of some Iranian artillery shells, and hereis a picture of an 81 mm mortar from the catalog of Iran's state-owned defense industry.
Of course, there are still dozens of other reasons why the evidence is bullshit.

When I follow the links, I get a website Diomil.ir, which is supposedly the official website for the "Defense Industries Organization" of Iran, the state manufacturer of weapons. This is supposed to be their international sales site.
When I do a reverse IP lookup, I get the following message:
Error :: The TLD for the Domain Name : "diomil.ir" is Invalid !
OK, no big deal so far...
I checked out the site a little, it has portals for English, Farsi and Arabic, as you might expect. Here are screenshots of the three portals:
Notice anything? The Farsi and Arabic portals are "under construction" (!?!?!?!) So the official website of the Iranian state agency responsible for selling their weapons (yeah, right!) doesn't bother filling out the Farsi and Arabic portions of their website...
There are quite a few other problems with the website. When I try to get specs on any of the weapons, I get a "Page not found" error. It seems to me that if I was trying to sell weapons, I might want to fill in those pages... Maybe it's just me.
Other hilarious mistakes:
The contact email is "marketing@dio1.org" .....
dio1.org
IP Addresses: 67.15.35.165
IP Country: United States
Reverse IP Lookup: Reverse IP has been Blocked for this IP
Hosting Company Name:
ICANN Registrar: ONLINENIC, INC.
Creation Date: N/A
Expiry Date: N/A
Web Server: N/A
Website Status: N/A
Reverse IP has been Blocked for this IP .... Yeah, I bet it has. And it's inside the USA.
From the ONELINEIC site:
VAS Value Added Services
• Escrow Service
• Registration API/Template System
• Powerful DNS-DIY tools
• Domain Parking Services
So the state Iranian military manufacturer uses a cheap US "domain parking service", and constructs a cheap website in English only, where most of the links don't work?
BULLSHIT !!!!
Some more hilarity:
The Best in the Middle East ?!?!?! Do you seriously expect me to believe that the Iranian state defense manufacturer wrote that slogan?
All this trouble was for the following, IMHO:
A nice little page for their 105mm shells, and a closeup of those same shells:
Notice the English stencils, remarkably similar to the Pentagon 'proof', and conveniently provided with a address ending in '.ir', Iran.
I CALL BULLSHIT.
We're being punked.
How stupid do they think we are? Answer: pretty goddamn stupid, I guess.
