What to expect today? Let me speculate. I'm guessing damage control regarding the non-binding resolution being debated in the House. Add to that the "Iran Involvement" in Iraq, and, of course, we'll hear about his budget proposal, how well our economy is doing, and that the tax cuts should be made permanent. I'd also be surprised if we don't hear about recent developments in North Korea.
MSNBC is speculating that Putin's recent remarks will also get a nod today:
Putin told a conference in Germany of the world's top security officials that his reason for his warning about the U.S. was its increased use of military force. Nations "are witnessing an almost uncontained hyper use of force in international relations," the Russian leader said.
"This is nourishing an arms race with the desire of countries to get nuclear weapons," he said.
His remarks were challenged by the White House. "His accusations are wrong," said Gordon Johndroe, Bush's national security spokesman.
The conference starts at 11:00 am EST and will be carried on the cable news outlets and C-Span 2 (stream here). CBS news will also live stream the press conference. At this time, I'm not sure if any of the network stations will carry the conference.
So, lets have some fun with this, (makes it less painful to watch!). How many times will he lick his lips? Who is going to "annoy" him and bring out his "defensive posture"? Who will receive the "condescending attitude"? How long do you think this will last? These, and more questions, will be answered shortly!
(Different topic - if you are interested in watching individual House members' debate speeches regarding the non-binding Iraq Resolution, C-Span's site has a fantastic resource for you! If you have, or will, miss your representative's "time on the floor" and want to view their speech, here's the handy-dandy tool. I'm sure C-Span will update this page as today and tomorrow's speeches are held.)
