This is one of those palm-slapped-to-forehead, duh, why-didn't-I-think-of-that things...
Cliff Schecter, of cable tv and YouTube fame (see here, here and here for a scratch the surface sampling), has created a new award: the Jim Webb.
What's the purpose of the award? Well, Schecter was inspired by this, so I think it's safe to say that this is an award for Democrats with spine.
So far it's been awarded twice - once to Elliot Spitzer and now to... drum roll... Carol Shea-Porter. Flip for the stories.
First - Spitzer's award...
I have no idea how this escaped me - how I didn't see this in the blogosphere when it was current. But this is fucking incredible.
Spitzer said to the Assembly Minority Leader, Jim Tedisco (a real prick, from Schenectady, that I've spoken to on the radio several times):
"I am a fucking steamroller and I'll roll over you or anybody else," the Democratic governor told Republican Assemblyman James Tedisco in a private conversation last week, the New York Post reported on Wednesday.
Wow. I didn't know we made Dems like that anymore - I thought the last one was Lyndon Johnson...
That is a New York fucking governor. Fuck yeah!!
This month, Carol Shea-Porter won the award...
What was her moment of glory? Well, it's soemthing similar to what I did here (audio) when I asked Fox News Host, Brian Kilmeade, what the troops suffering in 130 degree heat thought of a pampered radio show host - that paid $400 for his haircuts, wore makeup and $3,000 suits - that told them their cause was glorious, but refused to sign up for service himself...
She went right after the leader of the NH Republicans who criticized her for her opposition to the McCain escalation...
If Fergus Cullen has the courage of his convictions, he should go enlist, because they're having trouble meeting their quota. He's young, he's single and he's healthy. If he needs to know where the recruiters are, call me.
So yeah, sign me up. I like this Jim Webb award... and the rest of Schecter's blog is pretty swell too...
