It's been a long time since I've posted to my diary but I feel inspired tonight. I just found out my friend Anita Spell is running as a candidate for a seat on the Covington City Council. Covington is a small town just north of New Orleans La.
I've known Annie for about 2 years now and a more dedicated lady you'll never meet. She is personable yet she'll get in your face in a minute if she knows she's right.
Some of Annie's many accomplishments are...
* She successfully defeated State attempts to secure death penalty sentences in every capital case her law firm has ever handled.
* She was a president of the Greater Covington NAACP, only the second white female to hold such a post in NAACP history.
* She was instrumental in the formation of both the Louisiana Activist Network and the Covington Peace Project where she continues to advocate for sane and thoughtful approaches to issues of war and terrorism.
* She was a house lawyer for Camp Casey in Crawford, Texas during the summer of 2005.

This along with rebuilding their home after hurricane Katrina, raising a beautiful daughter, and putting up with her husband Buddy. This lady is incrediable.
I told Buddy a long time ago that she should run for congress, and this, unless I miss my guess, is her first step in that direction. She is a rising star for sure. I wish I lived in Covington so I could vote for her.
You go Annie...Onward!...
