Apparently the WA GOP now want to hide their star recruit, Dave "I heard on the TV that outsourcing is here to say" Reichert, whose viciously anti-gay and anti-abortion (he said during a debate that women shouldn't get abortions because he saw a lot of dead women as sherrif and it's really sad that women get abortions since so many women are murdered...I'm to the right to most Democrats on abortion, but I have no idea what the hell he's saying) attitudes may not play well in the district. He has cancelled most of his debates with Dave Ross, and outgoing rep Jennifer Dunn is conning people about his nasty policies while he's off hiding and campaigning with Tom DeLay.
Now they're running a "Wrong Flag" ad. The ad shows pictures of young kids, then swarthy men who are supposed to be terrorists, rants about Dave Ross' support of cutting missile defense funding, and finally supermimposes him in front of a white flag.
Dave Ross seems to take a dismissive attitude towards the ad, believing that the district won't fall for this type of fear-mongering. Clearly WA did not fall for the vile Osama-baiting ads run against Patty Murray, but this is a split district, with an ad which may terrify voters into believing that only Dave "I was sort of involved with catching a killer, but you'd better buy my book" Reichert can protect them. Reichert also has more money on hand.
I really hope that Ross takes this ad seriously. These type of attacks cannot go unanswered. Fear-mongering works more often than not, especially such generic fear-mongering, when too many people in that district may already be teetering towards the belief that even thought Reichert wants to destroy the lives of all gays and women, and had nothing but problems while sheriff, he's supposed to be a big stud who will save them from those unknown swarthy terrorists.
Do WA residents have any comments on these ads? What has the reaction been??
And please help out Dave Ross if you can.
