Because of security problems with the controversial touch
screen voting machines, the state of Ohio has announced they will
not have
them in place statewide for the November 2004 presidential
election. Ohio Secretary of State Kenneth Blackwell said they
must be proven to be secure against possible tampering and vote
fraud before being put to use. An executive of one of the voting
machine companies had previously said he was "committed to
helping Ohio
deliver its electoral votes to President Bush next
year."
