An oldie but a goodie, one that many of us overlooked when Barbara Bush said it in 03...it has that "I just can't believe she said it" sort of feel.
From Frank Rich, NYT:
Barbara Bush tells Diane Sawyer on ABC’s “Good Morning America” that she will not watch televised coverage of the war: “Why should we hear about body bags and deaths, and how many, what day it’s going to happen, and how many this or what do you suppose? Or, I mean, it’s, it’s not relevant. So, why should I waste my beautiful mind on something like that?”
What a doll!
Ignoring the callous statements she made about Katrina victims for a moment, isn't this just so very indicatative of this administration's mindset?
"Wasting" is not for "beautiful" minds like her own. It is for the men and women in those body bags. That, for Barb and Co, is not an aberration or a problem, it is simply the way the world works.
So, all's well in Barb's world, things are going precisely according to plan. Let's just hope her pretty, pretty, brain isn't disturbed by her son's approval ratings dipping below 30 percent...it's cold comfort for those who love folks in those body bags, but it's a sign that things are--finally--changing.
