I want to thank everyone here one last time while I still have an opportunity to do so. My family and I are deeply appreciative to those who helped buy us time while I continued my desperate search for gainful employ. However, Michigan's economy is bleeding and I am sad to report that my efforts have failed. What is more unsettling is that Michigan is an economic harbinger, usually running six months to a year ahead of the the rest of the nation.
My intent of this diary is to capture my overall beliefs in a clear, concise, and straight forward manner. For what it is worth, whatever may or may not happen with regards to my personal situation, I want this diary to stand as a comprehensive record of my beliefs and that readers may use it to reflect, verify, and consider their own belifs. So with that being said, I am happy for having had the opportunity to express my opinions and record most of my concerns about what I truly believe is taking place in America and the world today.
At the end of last week in my ongoing personal war with life, I had two mustard seeds remaining. But today, one of the mustard seeds I was holding got crushed. I have one seed that still remains viable, but to date, it has shown no promise. [I also have an acorn, but it will be a long time before that tree will grow.] With the economic outlook getting worse, I hold little hope. It looks like we too will soon join these ranks and there is little I can do to stop it :(
IMO, we are at a critical cusp in time. A cusp so huge that nothing like it has ever been seen before and probably will never be seen again, whereby the geophysical history of earth and the geopolitical history of mankind are both at extremes. It is possible and within our grasp, as the pendulums swings back from these historical extremes, to chart a path that will carry us through this critical cusp into the next age of man. Once we have crossed through the cusp and those pendulums begin to arc their way back from their extremes; the direction we've chosen will most likely endure for centuries.
I have this vision of a narrow path which leads to an enduring and enlightened future of peace and liberty. In the long run, it is the only assured way forward I can foresee that will lead to this period of enlightenment. All other paths followed lead to eventual disaster. It is my hope that in some small way, the ideas I have posted in my diaries and comments here and on Conyersblog will inform and help guide others.
The good news is that we achieved a "must do" milestone by electing a Democratic majority House, and even out did ourselves electing a Democratic majority Senate. The bad news is that as we now move forward, time grows shorter as we near the cusp and forces are at work are making this narrow path grow narrower by the week.
Therefore, knowing that my ability to continue posting diaries may become compromised, I want to chart out, in straight forward terms, what I feel are absolutely critical milestones that must be achieved in order for that enlightened future to occur. Failure to achieve any of these will, IMO, will eventually lead to tyranny and/or disaster.
- End our military involvement in the Middle East and begin anew diplomatic and political solutions to the region. The military must be redeployed before impeachment can begin. Kucinich on impeachment,
"Telling the crowd that while he didn't think immediate action was wise, due to fears that Bush might 'accelerate the war even more,' the congressman warned that 'if Bush attacks Iran, all bets are off,'" Miriam Raftery reported. "'The President is clearly trying to provoke Iran,'" he said
- Impeachment of many administration officials. This needs to occur in order to prevent the neocon PNAC ideologues from reasserting themselves through pardons, etc, generate lessons learned on what happened with the Constitution and point to possible solutions, and inform Americans and the general population of the facts surrounding the usurpers by removing the curtain of doubt. The latter must occur in order to gain political capital and buy in for the next milestone. Hearing, accountability, and oversight is useless and unless the root cause is found and fixed, continued attempts at usurpation and overthrowing liberty for the enrichment of the few will occur.
- Implement solutions to fix the continuous attempts at usurping the constitution: campaign finance, rebalancing the powers between the legislative and executive branches, give we the people a legal and more meaningful way to compel our representatives to comply with their oaths of office, create an audit procedure that checks legislation for Constitutional balance etc.
- Global energy autonomy by converting to 100% renewable energy sources.
Moreover, the determined conversion to regionally and locally used forms of energy leads, as Scheer argues, to a national and individual energy autonomy. This would result in a liberation from the conventional energy business that considers itself as "fourth state authority" and claims "cultural hegemony". In the end, alone renewable energies immunise against imminent global supply-monopolies. Since everything depends on energy, the struggle over forthcoming energy policies will also have an impact on the future outline of societies.
However, IMO, the threat of global warming is so great this goal may require a temporary compromise in the US and the UK in order to buy time, while we stumble forward trying to rid ourselves of the Energy Hegemony.
- War crimes trials for the perpetrators and complicit enablers in order to reestablish the credibility of our nation in the international community and set a precedent to be remembered for future generations. The international community has already recognized America's role in rendition and torture and adopted a resolution. Our standing amongst other nations will never be restored until reparations are paid by those involved.
There are different ways these objectives can be achieved and I don't think there is one correct solution, but these five milestones are mandatory.
