Lefty Catholicism ?
I'm no priest or theologian, but I was raised Catholic although in a very liberal family who went to a church where the priest was wonderful
Yes Virginia, there are "leftie" priests and slightly to the left of Pope John XXIII.
Free will
My priest thaught me that the most important thing God gave men & women was FREE WILL. God let us choose from the very beginning. God didn't say "I'm the boss and you HAVE to do what I want". He gave us a conscience and free will
No nuclear option on Paradise
Adam and Eve were able to choose who to follow according to their own conscience. And when Jesus came, believing in him and following him was and still is a CHOICE that every person must make for themselves. It doesn't get done at the White House, by a king, by the majority or by anyone else.
Lefty or conservative, any Christian can arrive to only one conclusion:
Jesus would not take away free will from our Senators and he would not force everyone to go with the majority. Ergo Jesus would oppose the nuclear option Frist is trying to push on his name

Jesus was not a bigot
My priest thaught us that Jesus and the Gospel were very clear in our duty to help the poor. And that when Jesus disciples wanted to send the villagers away w/o a meal Jesus said 'You give them something to eat'. (Mark 6:35-44) The operating word here is GIVE, regardless of merit, age, sex, or belief.
Feed them regardless of their faith ?
Yes, Jesus didn't make his disciples ask each villager if they believed in God, he just said feed them. There was no "loyalty form" to sign, no fake FBI agents and no vetoing of people based on their clothes. Regardless of the reason you went to see his speech you got fed, be it for curiosity, to spy on him, to laugh about it or to hear and think about what Jesus said.
