Walking back to the dorm I ran into a bunch of Kerry supporters. (I'm a collage student in Iowa) Now, at this point I might simply have faked an Indian accent and said "I'm not an Citizen", but in this case one of the Supporters was actually a girl I kind of knew from my English class last year (a creative writing workshop).
In fact she had been the hottest girl in the class at the time. So of course I wanted to talk to her. I initially told her I wasn't voting in the caucuses, and she's like "why?!" so of course I had to tell her I was voting for dean if I wanted to continue the conversation.
"why?" she askes. I don't really want to get into the whole thing but then she says "I'm just curious, I really want to know why people are voting for dean?" She seems honest and then "is it the bandwagon thing?" which is actually a pretty insulting question. I tell her I made my choice after the first debate, etc.
Then she launches into the whole "electability" thing, which I think is bogus. I mean, Kerry's needed to loan himself money to stay in the thing, while cash is pored deans way. I don't phrase it exactly like that. And the Kerry people are getting a little combative. (one of the other 'operatives' along with the Hot/intelligent chick from my English class has gotten involved in the conversation).
After a while of this I finally try to give up and walk away. I like dean, but I'm not all about trying to convince people I'm right, especially not ones who are out campaigning for the other guy already. For what it's worth, Hanna said she "really liked dean".
Oh well.
