Certainly by now we've all seen the Q1 presidential fundraising numbers. These reports make my head swim, but a curiosity has taken over me - to find the number of online contributors to Hillary's campaign. I can't find the information anywhere. It's not in Hillary's press release. It's not on the FEC's website. It's not listed at politicalmoneyline either.
Overall,Obama received contributions from more than 100,000 individuals. Clinton received donations from about 50,000 people, while Edwards took in money from about 37,000 donors. (Note, Clinton's numbers have been revised slightly higher).
What we do know, is that Obama raised $6.9 million on the Web (2), from a total of 50,000 online contributors.
Hillary raised $4.2 million from an unspecified number of online contributors.
Obama had about as many online contributors as Clinton has total contributors.
Gomez says Clinton's website is the fastest.
Hillary Clinton’s presidential campaign web site is the fastest place to donate online: Barack Obama’s is the slowest. And while both Democratic candidates currently lead in 2008 U.S. presidential campaign fundraising overall, Obama’s poor web site performance could be his Achilles heel over time.
Without comparing web traffic stats, the above article must be taken with a grain of salt. Even if all of Clinton's online donations were for just $100, that would put the number of online donors at 42,000 which is less than the number who donated online for Obama.
The failure to tout her online performance says to me that it isn't a strength she can brag about.
