It's another end-run around Congress.
DSHEA (Dietary Supplement Health and Education Act of 1994) already regulates "complementary and alternative health care products."
But the FDA, the FDA that DIDN'T keep our pets safe, is now planning to extend that Katrina-style care to our nutrional supplements.

But move fast. Comments are closing April 30th.
What's the point of this? Simply to subvert current legislation without debate or even public notice in any meaningful way.
This doument's intention is to render the DSHEA null-and-void, using tricky terminology to circumvent the limitations the law imposes on the FDA in regarding dietary supplements.
This doument's purpose is to regard virtually all herbs and supplements as drugs if they actually benefit a medical condition.
So if your nutrional supplements DON'T work, don't worry.
But if you take feverfew for your migraines, L-carnitine for your fatigue, Co-Q10 for your heart, or Vitamin C for your cold; the FDA wants you to get a presciption for it.
I see the sticky hand of Big Pharma at work.
