Any advice would be appreciated.
I've been posting here since August, 2005. There are a lot of helpful and insightful folks out there that might help me make a moral decision.
OK, Here it is. I've been working at the same job for nearly 15 years. I've hit the compensation and career ceiling here. I like what I do but am no longer challenged, and the people here, for the most part, have no passion for what they do and we all pretty much phone it in from day to day, just collecting a paycheck.
An opportunity has been presented to me for something new. It's an exciting opportunity with a bypass of all of the Administrative and traditional application processes and a high recommendation from a former Manager who is working at this company now. Basically he told me I'm a perfect fit and as far as he's concerned, a "Shoe-in". The money & benefits a supposedly (Crazy Great). And I'd probably double my hiring value for just having worked for this company. It's a big name.
Seems like a no-brainer. So, what the Hell's my problem, you ask.
Well, the new company is a MAJOR military contractor. I mean MAJOR, MAJOR, in some cases, more than likely, some of the scariest shit I wouldn't even want to know about MAJOR.
And here in lies my dilemma.
Morally, I believe that this and many other companies like this are bereft of any human decency. To me, they would sell anything to anyone. They would supply both sides of a given conflict and allow a complete and utter massacre of both parties as long as it helped their bottom line. I don't however have issues with this company helping our troops stay prepared, safe, and capable of defending this country.
And to add another twist to my underwear... The company I work for now, has a HEAVY Right-wing Govt. policy and agenda influence. I mean HEAVY, HEAVY, in some cases, more than likely, some of the scariest shit I wouldn't even want to know about HEAVY.
So, There it is.
Should I stick it out here where I feel no passion or drive to help this company further its financial and ideological goals. Or should I "Bite the Bullet" (Pun Intended), and give the new thing a shot?
This really blows!
There are no "Lesser of two Evils" here. They're both Effing Evil.
I need someone else's perspective. Thanks.
