The Union of Concerned Scientists: Automaker Rankings 2007. Ouch!! This is gonna hurt alot at GM, Ford & Chrysler. :)
I've slammed GM, Ford and Chrysler for years about their crappy cars. But that's just me.
The Union of Concerned Scientists has done a study to rate the Green-ness of car companies. I bet you can guess who the winners and the losers were. ;)
"Automaker Rankings 2007: The Environmental Performance of Car Companies analyzes the bottom-line environmental performance of eight companies, which together account for 96 percent of cars and trucks sold in the United States—the world’s largest vehicle market."
The Union of Concerned Scientists
"analysis uses sales and emissions data from the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency and Department of Transportation for model year 2005."
The first statement of the results is the most amusing to me and should warn potential customers to be wary of automakers hype about their "dedication to green cars & trucks".
UCS said: "All automakers need to do better." Ouch! As I said many times automakers could really care less if the entire Earth turns into a heaping Carbon Dioxide, Carbon Monoxide and Ozone wasteland! As long as they're making money they don't give a shit!
Here is a chart generated by UCS about their report. It tells the whole story graphically:

The winners, of course, were Honda followed closely by Toyota. The bottom 3 were, taaa daaaa!, GM, Ford & Chrysler! Who woulda thunk that, eh? ;)
Seems to me that when GM, Ford & Chrysler get trashed by Hyundai & Kia saying the Big 3 automakers are on the skids to a sudden death is being very kind!
Here's the whole report. The grey box in the report gives summary information.
