And we are coming in! What’s this, you say! Sovereignty? Blaspheme!
We captured Iraq and Afghanistan, so stretch your military from east to west. Don’t look south because our POW Pakistan lies with us waiting. You know we have the largest Armada ever assembled in the 21st Century in your warm southerly waters. Persian Gulf you say? I think not, maybe we will call it the American Gulf soon. Turkey must behave or the EU will shout. Azerbaijan, Armenia and Turkmenistan know what is best for them if they want us to keep our hands off their Caspian Sea treasures, at least for now. And the whole world knows what happens when you try to fight a two border war. So how will you fight on all borders? (This was a satire based upon the Project for the New American Century agenda.)
Funny? Not really. It is unfolding before your very eyes. The simultaneous wars in Iraq and Afghanistan were always the cornerstones to attacking Iran. This has always been about attacking Iran. Iraq was just a weak neighbor having a case built upon it to weaken it for the eventual invasion and/or regime change in Tehran.
I have been posting stories on Kos about this imminent threat for quite some time now and I seem to be met with complete dismissal. I ask you to start now demanding that the US not invade Iran. Let me also say clearly.
Iran has a sovereign right to anything they create. If we fear the spread of Nuclear weapons we should begin to very deliberately and transparently destroy half of the US nuclear arsenal and begin to strategize on how to deal with Nuclear Waste on a global scale.
Middle-eastern (Persian) foes are REACTING to our invasive policies. Iran, like OBL just wants us out of their land. If we remove ourselves and begin dialogue, peace will be upon us. What I am talking about is Regional Isolationism. Yes, that dirty word. Canada, South and Central America are our partners and in our hemisphere we have all that we need.
We should seek enlightenment based upon coexistence and stewardship of the Earth. We should lead by example and the World will follow. All humans want peace for their families. We must create an environment that covets this as the ultimate goal for family on earth. How about that for a dose of idealism!
Many of you are boiling right now, wondering how I could be so idealistic.
I say this. Nuclear energy is one of mankind’s most amazing achievements, short of its potential to destroy us all. If mankind can create this type of energy, send people to the moon, pull several hundred year old ships from the Ocean floor and cure diseases. Surely we can make a human pact to eliminate Nuclear weapons.
You see, we have nukes, for awhile now. The technology is now spreading because other societies are evolving to harness the know-how. Look at Iran’s neighborhood. India, Pakistan, Israel and Russia (who has occupied Iran several times) all have nukes. It seems logical that Iran would want the same capability as their neighbors to dissuade any aggression.
The US intervention of this potential arsenal so far from home seems gluttonous. I think we need to begin to draw down the 300+ military bases we have around the world and spend some money on America. The cost of Iraq alone could have been spent on Universal health care for all Americans for at least a century. Not to mention our own infrastructure and capability to respond to infrastructure natural disasters is at a critical juncture. Yet, we pour billions into foreign infrastructure development.
We imprison more people than any other country in the World with the draconian war on drugs...the scales of justice are broken for too many people are being weighed. Inner city poverty and substantial employment is ignored. Homelessness surrounds even the wealthiest of Americans. We have plenty of issues to be worked on right here at home and among our neighbors.
The US prestige in the global arena has been gutted by Bush and this Middle-east War which is on the eve of expanding to the end-game, Iran.
Maybe America needs a military coup? Maybe we need impeachment? Maybe we need our asses handed to us in a war? Not likely, we are damn good at war.
Whatever it is we need, we need it fast. The Hellhounds of War are being prepared for release and the American media and public slumbers as they are fixated on Iraq. Look east America, Cheney and Bush have been for awhile now. This will only stop in Tehran.
