Dear Diary:
It was not a good day for royalty at Miami International Airport.
Spanish Crown Prince Felipe and his fiance Letizia Ortiz were held by airport security personnel in Miami on Thursday as they were changing flights.
The couple had arrived aboard a private aircraft from the Bahamas and were heading to an Iberia flight back to Spain when they were detained by security. As they were questioned and their baggage minutely inspected, the Prince of Asturias lost it and began shouting...You can't do this....we're your allies! This did not deter security, which grabbed the future queen's handbag to search it. Afterwards, Letizia went to the restroom for some cold water to calm her jangled nerves. As she returned, security claimed that they had to re-inspect everthing as she had left a secure area. The Iberia flight had to be held to allow for time to security for round no. 2.
A Spanish consular officer posted to Miami rushed to the scene and declared: We think this is not an appropriate manner to treat our future king. This is clearly a violation of protocol!
No kidding.
