Enough already with the hypocrisy of the so-called Blue Dog Democrats. They claim to be deficit hawks, standing up for fiscal responsibility. Meanwhile they continue to support to the hilt this expensive, wasteful Iraq War and Occupation, and they keep voting to fund the administration that started it.
I believe the Blue Dogs are the key to ending the Iraq occupation. If they can be encouraged to live up to their own ideals of bird-dogging the deficit and reducing government waste, then they must see Iraq as the gargantuan money pit that it is. Why throw another $100 billion down the Iraq rabbit hole when they could spend. . .nothing! Not another dollar, not another dime to this needless, wasteful, criminal quagmire. . .
These are the Blue Dogs, from their own website:
http://www.house.gov/...
If you live in one of their districts, or know someone who does, why not call up and ask how they square their support of the Iraq war with their supposed zeal to cut wasteful and needless government expenses? Are they really afraid of imminent attack from Iraq's mighty army? Come on!
Time and again, the Progressives of the Democratic party have been called upon to swallow their principles and fall on their swords "for the good of the party." Meanwhile, the Blue Dogs have exactly one supposed principle, fiscal responsibility, and every time they vote to fund the war some more they betray even that. Their only other discernable principle seems to be, "Attain and hold power by any means necessary, even if it means acting like a Republican to do it." If that's the case, the Blue Hawks are DINOs, masquerading as Dems, and might as well come out of the conservative closet and switch parties.
If the Blue Dogs had voted to stop the war during the last House vote, it would be over. Something tells me their constituencies would've forgiven them by election time--especially when they realize how much money was saved by NOT fighting needlessly for another year and a half. It's time for the BDs to take one for the team, and vote against this deadlineless $100 Billion supplemental.
Otherwise, enough with this "Blue Dog" BS. As long as they vote to fund B*sh's war, these dogs of war are Blue Hawks, pure and simple, and should be called out as such.
