The American public along with the Democratic base will find out today whether or not the Democratic Party will stand up against (King George’s) blank-check philosophy of more endless war in Iraq. As of this moment, many of us kossacks are uncertain about how our local representative(s) in the congress will be voting on the Iraq War funding supplemental later today. However, this vote is very meaningful in many ways because it not only tells us whether the blue team has the moral backbone to support what they publicly say they believe in, but to see if they have the diverse leadership skills to lead this great nation in one it’s most perilous times in world history.
The 2008 makeup of the congress will be decided on how the current members of congress vote for this $120 billion bill to keep the military operation in Iraq buoyant until September. Currently, we can see some of our representatives that represent districts in (Red mid-western/southern/southwestern states) will vote yes because they are scared their constituents will label them as not supporting the troops or hating the troops. On the other hand, many of our progressive Democratic congressmen & congresswomen will do the right thing by voting against this no timetable included legislation that gives into the black-check philosophy of the Bush Administration.
If the anti-war crowd, which is a super-majority of kossacks, wants to make their voices heard in 2008, start today by only supporting those members of congress who vote Nay on today’s supplemental bill. Furthermore, for you kossacks whose Democratic representatives that vote the wrong way on this bill, it’s your job as part of your community to find a candidate for the next election who will demonstrate strong leadership. Ultimately, the results of the Iraq spending bill will outline both the current and future balance of the Democratic Party along with showing the American people whether or not they are willing to stand up for real permanent political change.
For current members of the senate running for President this question must be asked of you:
Hillary Clinton what do you stand for on this war?
Barack Obama what do you stand for on this war?
Joe Biden has already announced he supports funding more endless war because if we don't our government will jeporadize the outcome of this war even more.
