Some certain individuals are wishing they used gpg about now, I'd wager. And it looks like CNR is going online sometime in June. I'll be there to alpha test. Amazing wallpapers (royalty-free), thanks to carpunder (Cheers!). And if you are concerned about security, there are a bunch of articles here, and here.
Now I could spend this time over on Ubuntuforums, but as I enjoy this community so much more, I thought it would be more interesting to answer some of the newer users' questions.
If no one here actually has any questions, then I thought I'd draw a few from Ubuntuforums' own beginner talk section. Anyone? Bueller? No? OK, how about this one:
I have a iRiver H10 20GB MP3Player. When I used windows, it required WMP10 to either sync the files or even recognize it as a USB device in My Computer. Well since WMP10 isn't on Ubuntu, is it still possible to put music to and from my iRiver?
Update: Boom! One hour to the minute, and there is a solution to the problem:
On feisty install libmtp, gnomad2 and amarok. Gnomad2 using synaptic can be used my itself to create playlist, transfer files, etc. In amarok, you can enable mtp transfer through the Device options. Amarok can also do playlist, album art, music, etc.
Wow. they rock.
Or this one:
I have been using Feisty for some time now (a little more than a week, to be exact =P) and I never had any problems with the wireless from the beginning. Now however, after a two-day outing, the wireless just stopped working. It still works on a WinXP box. I don't really know what could have messed my configuration up, as I was unable to find any hotspots during my trip. The worst thing that happened was OpenOffice choking on a Office07-formatted ppt file.
Note: all of these are via the unanswered posts list in Ubuntuforums, which can be found here; usually questions are answered within an hour or two, with the exception of some really tough ones. Think I'll log in over there, and post the results of what we (or I) come up with. Feel free to chip in with any ideas.
Here's another poser:
Hi, I am looking for a piece of software for linux that is similar to Datapilot for windows. Datapilot will allow you to transfer contact lists and certain other settings (mostly ringtones is what I need) between supported phones provided that you have the proper cable. I am hoping to transfer data between 2 Sanyo 8300's and 2 Sanyo Katanas. Thanks for your help!!!
I'll be updating this diary as time goes on, and if something new comes up, I'll do a write up on that. Sorry to disappoint all you gamer fans out there, but I'm out of commission on that front for the weekend. Cheers!
