I am going to tell you a story that happened to me yesterday in my neon red town. I live in a commercial building with my used bookstore in the front and my apartment upstairs. The rear faces on an alley. Yesterday my next door neighbor was playing with his robot car and racing it all over. The children in the family across the alley ran out to see. I was in my garden and my dogs got tired of running after the little car as they couldn't catch it. I found a 4-leaf clover and walked up the alley about 25 feet to give it to one of the children. The lttle boy loved it and so did his older sister who immediately took it from him and ran into the house with it. When she came out I told her it was for her little brother and wouldn't bring her luck if she took it from him. The little boy had never seen one before and never heard of good luck from a 4-leaf clover. And we are surrounded by rural countryside.
This is the good part. Continue for the bad part.
In their yard just to the right of mine across the alley they had a little dog part Pom and Chihuahua with long soft furry hair. Around its neck was a chain big and strong enough to hold a horse in check or a bull. It was dragging this chain as the kids tried to get it to run. A darling dog and you all know me as a volunteer dog rescue person. I put the chain around their necks to show them how heavy it was and how it hurt.
I think I have a collar in my building that would fit your dog. Just a minute and I'll go get it.
Oh, do you! said the older sister about 9 or 10. And do you have any dog food? We don't have any. (No money to buy any.)
So I went and got a little leather collar for the tiny dog and put it on her. Then the sister said she had ticks and could I get them off her. So I went picking and got some huge bloated ones off the little one. I told her that these ticks were just about ready to drop off and if they dropped off in the house they would have millions of tiny tiny ticks all over everything and they would never get them all out. Then I saw the fleas crawling in her fur. Lots of fleas can kill a tiny dog in not too much time. I told them I had some flea and tick shampoo and would get it and we could give her a bath in my child wading pool (for my doggies) in my back yard. So I went to get the shampoo.
When I came back the llittle girl was crying bitterly and said we couldn't, that her grandmother wouldn't let her. Her mother just had another baby and was staying somewhere else. I went up to the grandfather who was now sitting outside. A big fat unkempt black haired man with a sullen nasty expression. I introduced myself as the neighbor across the alley who had the bookstore and that we wanted just to give the dog a bath in the backyard where he could see us. (I never never never let any child in my house, not even in my bookstore alone. I don't need trouble like that!) He said you'll have to ask her grandmother. So I knocked on the back door, introduced myself and asked her permission to give the dog a flea bath as it has so many fleas and they would get in the house.
She's not coming in the house. She doesn't get along with my cat. She stays outdoors. And then she told the little girl to come in. The child said I can't do it now I have to do the dishes. So I said, don't worry, we'll do it later. She shut the door and then I could hear her screams. I knew she was being beaten.
Later when it got dark I took food and water to the little dog. I saw her later with the dog and knew she knew I had remembered and brought the food over.
Today I saw the little brother sitting at the very edge of the grass by the alley digging a hole. I walked up and said hello asking where the dog was. He told me she was at the house with his mother and the new baby. I said you need to tell your mother that the dog has fleas and they will get on the baby.
I did tell her. But she won't listen.
How long are you going to stay with your grandmother, I asked.
88 days he said. That's a long time, I said.
Just then a man came to the door and called the boy in. Thinking he would get scolded I went to the back door and knocked.
I said to the man, a younger version of black khair and unkempt looks, he didn't do anything. I came up and talked to him. It wasn't his fault.
He's not allowed to talk to strangers!
I said, I'm not a stranger. I'm a neighbor. I own the bookstore in the front.
He's not allowed to talk to strangers and he slammed the door in my face. Then I heard the lilttle boy screaming and screaming. I knew he was being beaten.
Do you know that almost all child sexual abuse cases are committed by members of the child's family? Any time you see a child pulling grass and digging holes at the very edge of the property, it is a signal. They are sitting as far away from the adults as they can get without getting off the property and getting a beating for it. Add that image to not being able to talk with anyone outside the family and ........well, be suspicious at least.
Now do any of you really think that the media has influenced and corrupted the reasoning processes of adults in this subculture. (Read FOX.) This is what Gore has written in his new book. That is pure intellectual rationalization reasoning.
A family that would do this to a little dog and their children, stopping them from playing and doing something constructive and having fun at the same time, and then beating them for wanting to do it, is beyond help. And this is what Cindy has realized she is up against as the dems rationalize their capitulation to Bush.
They will never change. As Gandhi said, If you want to change the world, you must start with the children. This is why I opt for the public schools around here as(bad as they are) they are their best chance from getting away from stupid, cruel, vicious family members. It is why I am becoming for state run infant and children centers like the Chinese culture.
And I am reporting these people to the Child Abuse Hotline as I know the real reason they don't want them talking to anyone outside the family. Maybe they won't find anything, but they will go into the database and that will scare them. Families around here are very frightened and furious that such a thing exists. That the government would dare to interfere with parental rights over children.
