"Once a government is committed to the principle of silencing the voice of opposition, it has only one way to go, and that is down the path of increasingly repressive measures, until it becomes a source of terror to all its citizens and creates a country where everyone lives in fear."- Harry S. Truman 8/8/1950

The Alabama Department of Homeland Security has
pulled its terror watch website, after people noticed they were including dangerous jihadist organizations like Equality Alabama.
More after the flip.
A quote from the site, per the article behind the first link:
Single-issue extremists often focus on issues that are important to all of us. However, they have no problem crossing the line between legal protest and ... illegal acts, to include even murder, to succeed in their goals..
Yeah. Do we know of a lot of gay suicide bombers? "Pro-Life" groups at least cannot deny that they have some history with this kind of thing... but the GLBT community?
Here's a better one, via the Birmingham News:
"In general, these terrorists claim that the U.S. government is infringing on their individual rights, and/or that the government's policies are criminal and immoral," the Web site stated. "Such groups may hold that the current government is violating the basic principles laid out by the U.S. Constitution and that a new world order is attempting to enslave humanity."
Ten years ago, I might have agreed with that statement. A little. I held the black helicopter crowd in contempt just like everyone else. But that definition doesn't just apply to tinfoil hat aficionados any more. I wouldn't be surprised if they had, well, everyone in Alabama who's not a registered Republican on there. Certainly the above definition fits the Democratic and Libertarian parties, the anti-war movement, the environmental movement, and anyone who isn't a 'loyal Bushie'.
Sigh. This from the people that put Old MacDonald's Petting Zoo on the list of high-priority potential terrorist targets. Is it 2008 yet?
