Washington, DC Giant and Safeway stores will be closed Tuesday so that their union employees can vote on a proposed labor contract. (See WashPost
article.) The workers may very well vote to go out on strike.
The question becomes: what's the proper route to go? Non-union Whole Foods and the union Shopper's Food Warehouse (Alexandria, VA and College Park, MD, I believe) will be open. And what can bloggers do to stand with striking workers whose pay and retirement and healthcare benefits are under threat of rollback?
Any of the usual labor voices here or others have any ideas or resources to point us to?
