When do we stop giving George Bush, Alberto Gonzales, Dick Cheney or Condoleeza Rice the benefit of the doubt?
How many fabrications must this administration create before we can call their behavior a deliberate pattern of deception?
When will US Senators start using the "L" words (lies, lying, liars) to describe the testimony of white house officials before congress?
The answer, my friend, is below the fold.
Giving the benefit of the doubt to Karl Rove, George Bush, Dick Cheney or any other of the political con-men who run this country, defies reason. Tell-tale e-mails and gross inconsistencies in explanations about the recent US Attorney firings, as well as proven misrepresentations in the justification of the Iraq invasion, leads one to a single conclusion- Bush's deliberate and calculated misrepresentation of facts is simply a part of his administration's policy to advance its own (personal) interests over national interests.
Why do congressional Democrats display the veneer of courtesy, when that courtesy is met with stubborn arrogance by Bush and his misanthropic underlings? Most of us see his objective for what it is- a brazen and poorly executed subversion of our constitutional democracy for personal financial and political reward.
These greedy neocon savages do not deserve Democrats' respect or deference of any sort. While Democratic politicians cower before the sharp-tongued hubris of the right-wing noise machine, our republic burns and soldiers and innocent civilians die by the thousands.
Our grandchildren will ask, "on what basis did congressional Democrats continue to pretend that Republicans could be trusted at their word?" How many more Republican congressmen must be sent to prison before we recognize the widespread pattern of corruption? How many more inconsistencies in their stories will be tolerated, before a lie is called a lie. Simply because these crooks are skilled at lying, shouldn't mean that we should continue to believe their lies.
It is as if congressional Democrats are weak and frightened parents, intimidated by their delinquent children, pretending to believe their children's stories, while allowing their brats to commit mayhem. Spare the impeachment, spoil the child.
The Republicans have never extended any courtesy to the Democrats. In fact, they have been abusive and dishonest at every turn. Perhaps Democratic politicians still hold on to some foolish pretense that Democrats and Republicans are all pulling together for the same goals. This could not be further from the truth. The Republicans are on a single-minded mission to permanently consolidate power and to reward only their own constituency. To hell with liberals, or anyone else who does not share their cultural niche.
Are Democrats trying to appease Karl Rove and friends? Are they afraid to stand up to these craven bullies? The power in this country lies in the hands of its people. The people of this country, excepting the gullible and intolerant minority who still believe that Fox News is fair and balanced, know that Bush and company have made a mess of this country, simply because these good-for-nothings, born in the right place at the right time, were too lazy and selfish to make money in any way but to drain the earth of its oil.
These liars and thieves would rather suppress scientific evidence about global warming, slaughter thousands of innocents and use the constitution as a doormat, than perform an honest day's work. They do not deserve the Democrats' courtesy and they certainly do not deserve the benefit of the doubt.
Ms. Pelosi, Mr. Reid, do what you must do to rescue this country from these arrogant and privileged houligans. Bring them to justice. Impeach them. They lack credibility and they lack any factual defense for their unforgivable actions. It is only media propaganda and parliamentary gamesmanship which keeps this wobbling administration from a humiliating political collapse. Make it happen. Impeach now.
To paraphrase John Kerry, how can you continue to ask our brave sons and daughters in uniform to sacrifice their lives in Iraq, simply because you lack the political will to put an end to this tragedy? Whose political career is more important than the life of even one soldier?
