Republican frontrunner for the GA-10 special election, State Senator Jim Whitehead:
"left-wing political activists [are] intentionally registering illegal aliens to vote, including known Al Qaeda terrorists..."
He has also said:
"Iraq has not been a big thing in our district."
Whitehead is not new to verbal gaffes. Or plain stupidity. He has earlier told a newspaper the University of Georgia is full of "a bunch of liberals," adding except for its football team, someone ought to bomb it.
Even though the first quote proves supreme idiotness, the second quote is much worse. On so many levels.
The fact that he doesn't see Iraq as "that big a deal" is horrendous. This is a man that might vote in Congress on issues as a possible war on Iran. It's bad enough that Congress approved the Iraq resolution, but that there actually are people that haven't learned how wrong that was, is a bit scary.
Even worse is the total disrespect for the troops that are fighting and dying in Iraq. The war is a big deal for them, for the families and for the country. If Whitehead don't understand that, he would make a very dangerous Congressman.
Too bad we don't have it on film, because if we did, he would be as politically dead as George Allen. But since this is a Special Election and turnout is everything. This just might be the "Macaca" that gives the race to James Marlow (d).
But we have to do what we can to keep the "Iraq is not important" quote out there. We must also support the Marlow for Georgia effort by:

Joining Marlow for Congress on Facebook
And use those networks to spread news and information about the race. And we need to get national focus on it. National focus means national donors.
You need more good reasons to win this thing?
I give you the two other "serious" republican candidates:
Paul Braun:
He sees to "stop the invasion of illegal aliens" as a more pressing issue than Iraq. Why? Because: "I believe that patriotism runs very deep in Georgia."
Bill Greene wants to be elected to:
"... keep Congress from stealing more of your hard earned money and from spending it on "bridges to nowhere" and marriage benefits for homosexual couples."
Let's keep these guys out of Congress and elect a democrat that focuses on the right issues. Marlow is a candidate with the right views on Iraq, health care, education, energy independence and protecting the environment.
