Show off your pooties with me! Today's diary will focus on pooties that we had to leave behind when we moved, before we had Precious and Chairman. I'll also show pictures of my beautiful betta boys. :) It's also our first wedding anniversary, so I'll share a couple of wedding pics! Follow me below the fold for extreme cuteness. :D
(Sorry the diary is up a little late this week.)
Please, join in the cute fest that is Sunday Pooties! I LOVE seeing everyone else's pets, whether they are pooties or not. :)
These are the two kitties: Missy is the kitten, and Shadow is the big boy.
They were both rescues, while my husband was living with his grandparents. They already had a pootie, Tigger, when hubby's aunt came home with Shadow. His aunt lives out in the country, and she found Shadow trying to get inside her German Shepard's pen to get some of her food. He was a tiny little kitten at the time. He had a terrible stuffy, runny nose. We just thought he was sick with a cold from being outside. But, after a couple of weeks, when it hadn't gotten any better, we took him to the vet. It turns out, when he was a kitten, he had somehow gotten his jaw broke, and since he was a stray, it was never taken care of, so it didn't heal right. Because of that, his sinuses are permenantly damaged. So, we have three nick names for him: Slurpy, Wheezy, and Sneezy. He is incredibly loud when he eats, drinks, and breathes, and he sneezes ALL THE TIME. I also think that whatever broke his jaw left him with a bit of brain damage... he's a little off. But, he's absolutely adorable. His entire existence is climbing and sleeping.
Missy was the daughter of a farm cat and a ferral tom cat. She had 7 brothers and sisters, 5 of which had been killed off. When we got her, she and her two surviving brothers had been weened, but they were still pretty tiny. The brothers were fending for themselves, but we were so worried about her, so we brought her home. Shadow and Tigger had just gotten used to each other, and neither appreciated another kitten on their turf.
But, she earned her place within a few short days, and now, even though she is about half their size and the only female, she is the alpha cat.
We had to leave them behind when we moved, however. We were in the dorm rooms at that time, and of course, we couldn't have cats. When we got married last year, we planned to take Missy and Shadow with us. They were our cats. However, we decided that it would be too much stress on Shadow, since that was the only home he had ever known and it took him a LONG time to get established there. It would be too hard on Tigger because he had gotten used to having playmates. And it would be hard on Grandma and Missy, because they had formed a very special relationship. So, we left them behind. It was hard, but we know they are being well taken care of, and they are happier for it.
Now, to show off two of my lovely betta boys. This one is Koenig. He is my pride and joy. I got him from Wal-Mart... he had to have been about a year old when I got him. I've had him for about three years now, which puts him at about 4 years old... absolutely ancient for a betta. Average lifespan for a betta is about 2-3 years.
My other baby is Angel. He was also gotten at Wal-Mart.. he's a rescue. I found him with barely any fins at all because they had rotted away in his little tiny filthy cup. One of the long front skinny fins had been ripped off because it had gotten caught between the lid and the edge of the cup one of the times they closed the lid, and it has never grown back. All the others have grown back, though, and he is my most beautiful boy, and totally full of personality.
And, now, for the wedding pictures!
Happy anniversary, Jared! I love you!
