What we see in Washington is once again Politics as Usual. We see gridlock and for the most part party lines being drawn rather than the line on corruption and violations of public trust.
I'm a history and civics teacher running for Congress, and I get very angry when the public's trust and our sacred Constituion are trampled upon. That is why I'm running again after having come within 330 votes of defeating Rubber Stamp Republican Robin Hayes last year. We regular folks have to step up and take responsibilty for our political system or we are going to lose it forever to the special interests that have been pretty much running the show.
I work full time teaching while also running my campaign, putting in time making fundraising calls, and keeping up with my wife and two teenage daughters. I'm often asked why I do this. My answer is that whenever I get tired or frustrated I remember that my opponent went on CNN saying that there was a connection between 9-11 and Saddam Hussein and argued he was right on air. I remember that he voted with big oil and the big pharmaceutical companies over the people of this district. That's politics as usual and that is why someone like Alberto Gozales thinks he can get away with lying to Congress.
The Washington folks seemed shocked that we recently polled and it showed my opponent is in big trouble and the district agrees with me that we've had enough. My message resonates with my friends and neighbors and that is why this race is in a dead heat this far ahead.
Join me in ending the politics as usual. I'm not a rich man and I will never match my opponent dollar for dollar, but with your help, if we start now, we can put all of our small voices and dollars together to have a big voice on election day. If you've had enough of this, help me now.
