Many of you may have already seen the story of two teenage girls who were kicked off of a public bus for kissing. The girls, age 14, were on their way to the Sexual Minority Youth Recreation Center in Portland. Fight OUT Loud, a new organization to fight hate and discrimination, has been in contact with the families to help resolve the issue.
Yesterday, a spokesperson for the Trimet Transportation Authority issued an apology, but refused to discuss any disciplinary action that may have been given. The families of the girls are concerned that the bus driver, who told the girls to leave the bus in violation of Trimet's safety policies and called them "sickos", will continue on the route and may come in contact with other GLBT youth.
Please help these two young members of our community get closure and a satisfactory resolution to this very troubling situation. Trimet officials need to assure the public that these actions will not happen again. Now is your chance to Fight OUT Loud by contacting the following Portland Officials:
