If you ever needed proof that the Colorado Republican Congressional delegation is in the nuttiest camp of the lunatic fringe of the right wing, look no farther than this vote Friday.
Only 84 Republicans in the House voted for an amendment which would have forbidden Speaker of the House Nancy Pelosi from traveling to other countries. 337 members voted No, including all the Democrats and a vast majority of Republicans.
But among the Yes votes were all three of Colorado's Republican contingent--Lamborn, Tancredo, and even the "new" and supposedly "bipartisan" Marilyn Musgrave.
Musgrave (CO-04) won re-election in 2006 by the smallest margin ever. In 2008 she is being challenged by Betsy Markey, and once again by Angie Paccione, and by Eric Eidsness, this time, quixotically, running as a Democrat.
Lamborn (CO-05), who barely squeaked out a victory in one of the bloodiest primaries in recent memory, will very likely face another bruising and expensive primary in 2008. He easily won his seat against Democrat Jaw Fawcett in 2006, and as yet no Democratic sacrificial lamb has emerged for 2008 to run in this heavily Republican district.
Tancredo (CO-06) is running for President in 2008, and hasn't yet announced whether he will also seek re-election in his district. He easily beat Democrat Bill Winter in 2006. No Democratic challenger has yet emerged.
