Hundreds have been killed and hundreds of thousands have lost their homes to recent severe weather.
Pakistan has been particularly hard-hit: earlier this week a cyclone struck the nation's largest city, Karachi, killing at least 230 people. More than 900,000 Pakistanis are affected by the flood and, because roads and bridges have been washed away, dozens of communities are trapped by swollen rivers.

Our houses are under water, we've got nothing to eat," he said. People were forced to flee the rising water on camels, in cars and on foot.

A very serious failure occurred on the part of India's Meteorological Department (IMD) yesterday, when they failed to provide adequate warnings for a devastating tropical cyclone that hit Pakistan. Cyclone 03B, which struck the coast of Pakistan at 02 GMT June 27, has killed at least 17 and left 250,000 homeless in that nation, according to early news reports. Under mandate from the World Meteorological Organization (WMO), India is responsible for warning the shores of all nations along the North Indian Ocean, including Pakistan

Pakistani troops and rescuers struggled yesterday to help 1.3 million victims of monsoon-triggered floods in the country's southwest, officials said, a day after villagers rioted over the slow response.
The death toll from the floods in worst-affected Baluchistan Province rose to 17, an official said, with local media reporting that more than 200 people have died across the country after about four days of rains and flooding.
We all know the numbers are only going up.
Gen warned of Taliban’s growing reach
http://www.indianexpress.com/...
Pakistan President General Pervez Musharraf was warned this month that Islamic militants and Taliban fighters are rapidly spreading beyond the country’s lawless tribal areas and that without "swift and decisive action," the growing militancy could engulf the rest of the country.
This could cause huge problems, I think the south/south east is the most damaged. Aid and who is going to gives it? Are we going to let the taliban come in with aid...

Monsoon surprise
http://www.thenews.com.pk/...
The Pakistan Fisherfolk Forum (PFF) estimates that 266 fishermen disappeared around the southern coastal belt and that upwards of 500 boats were destroyed, ruining the livelihood of countless fishermen. Twenty thousand houses around the coastal belt have been damaged by the incoming rains along with an approximate 100 beetle leave farms and another hundred poultry farms. The fishing town of Gadap, for one, has been decimated by the rain, with more than 800 collapsed houses and many of their residents having lost their lives. In Balochistan alone 250,000 people have been rendered homeless in this past week.
