Please do not recommend this diary!
And here's why you should not recommend this diary: we are trying to eliminate the "unrecommend" problem for multiple live-blog diaries. The UID Liveblog did the (master) first diary, which currently occupies a rec list slot - subsequent liveblog diaries should not be recommended. Therefore, please, in lieu of recommends for this diary, leave your recs on the master U.S. Attorney Firings liveblogging diary.

Capitol Hearings
Preserving Prosecutorial Independence: Is the Department of Justice Politicizing the Hiring and Firing of U.S. Attorneys? -- Part V "
Today's witnesses:
Panel I
Bradley J. Schlozman
Associate Counsel to the Director
Executive Office for United States Attorneys
Former Interim U.S. Attorney for the Western District of Missouri
Former Principal Deputy Assistant Attorney General and Acting Assistant Attorney General for the Civil Rights Division
U.S. Department of Justice
Washington, DC
Panel II
Todd Graves
Former U.S. Attorney
Western District of Missouri
Kansas City, MO
Senator Leahy has already told Schlozman that it looks like he is trying to break Alberto Gonzales' record of saying, "I don't know; I don't remember", so its not too much of a stretch to imagine just how much information they are not getting from Schlozman. (Watch for occasional outbursts from Leahy, too. He has very little patience today for this nonsense.)
Highlights:
Leahy is P.O.'d and has raised his voice more than once -- particularly when Schlozman claimed that it was OK that the ACORN case brought just before the election.
Schumer got Schlozman to admit boasting about hiring Republicans (I'm assuming to career spots).
Whitehouse pounded Schlozman on the changes he ordered for performance evaluations in the appellate section.
Feinstein quizzed Schlozman about the removal of the Civil Rights Division Section Chief (Joe Rich).
(props to MKinTN for the above)
As always, rule #1 of liveblogging is NO PICTURES.
